If I asked "are you living real life?", how would you answer?
As an artist who paints real life scenes, I am a life long student of people and everyday life. One of the things I see, especially in today’s world, is an apparent lack of purpose. I see it in people from all walks of life, from professionals to hourly wage earners, people who do not seem to be living life with purpose.
I believe that life, real and abundant life, is lived with a definite purpose that is much greater than ourselves. And I believe the key is discovering that “it is not about us.” It is the age old question about the meaning and purpose of life- “What am I here for?” We can’t answer that question within ourselves. We were created by God and therefore must begin at the source, with Him.
God tells us in His Word, the Bible, we were made to last forever. Every person who has ever been born, was created as an eternal being. God also tells us that our primary purpose for being, the reason man and woman were created, was to have fellowship with Him as our Creator. When sin entered the world, fellowship with God was broken and we all know that trouble began with a capitol T. All, that’s you and me, have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The Good News, however, is that God loved us so much, that He made a way to restore that broken fellowship.
It all begins with the gift of life through accepting the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The most important decision we can make on earth, the way to enter real life with purpose, is through accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. I can’t even begin to tell you, within these few words, how that one simple decision has transformed my life. The peace of God that enters in, is a gift the world cannot give. Once that decision is made, real life and purpose, that nothing else in the world can give, enters in. The peace of God that enters in, is a gift the world cannot give.We discover our true purpose and identity through relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pray this with me: "Heavenly Father, I want to get my life right with You. I am sorry for my sin, and I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you for the gift of life- real life. Amen."
