Meet Artist m Crosland

Architect of Color, Light and the Joy of Art

Jules mira

I'm Malcolm Crosland- it's a pleasure to meet you and thank you for visiting our gallery!

Please feel free to look around. If you have questions we'll do our best to answer them. Let us know with a call, text or e-mail.

What kind of art speaks to you? Do you prefer modern abstract paintings with bold color? I release new abstract work nearly every month, in both large and small sizes. I love painting them and the freedom of expression I find in selecting the bold color mixes and whimsical forms.

Or do you prefer realism? I suppose that's my more reserved side, painting evening city scenes, for example, filled with light and people out on the town enjoying each other's company. I especially enjoy doing scenes from the early 1900's. It was a simpler time of life in our country wasn't it? There's just such a peace and tranquility surrounding the joy of owning a painting like that in our homes.

Painting the Art that Will One Day Grace Your Walls

“I'm always interested in visiting with collectors who own my art. Autumn Sunday Evening, is owned by a wonderful couple who love art that reminds them of their faith in God."

This 9" X 12", oil on panel, is set in a New England village, on an autumn evening, as church goers are heading into evening services. What I find compelling in this very simple composition, is, first, the incredible color of a New England autumn, and second, the power of the God, who created such exquisite beauty for the world to enjoy. The power and reminder of friends and family heading to worship isn't to be overlooked. Very affordable original art, can come in a small, easy to find space for package.

Strawberry Harvest

Strawberry Harvest is one of my very early paintings, a 20" X 16", oil on panel and also held in a private collection. The scene is in the small South Texas town of Poteet, known across the state and even internationally, for their annual Strawberry Festival. We see a hard working couple loading the crates of delicious ripe berries into their 1953 Ford pickup, at the end of a day's work….time to relax… sit out on the porch enjoying the tranquility of the evening…. breathing in the clean country air…. time to contemplate the glory of creation. Life is good!

High Desert Glory

“Not every piece will speak to every person, and that’s good. Because when the right piece finds the right collector, it’s like recognition. You don’t choose it—it chooses you.”

You saw this piece above, a 36" X 48", oil on stretched canvas, and the second in this series of paintings. The first, High Desert Evening, is owned by a young couple who were just starting their art collection. I've always enjoyed the beauty of the Arizona desert, which inspired the series. Here we find a little abstract whimsy, combined with realism, and set on a gold background. I enjoy the freedom and lavish color I'm able to use in abstract expression. If you'll look for it, I do an abstract show series every so often. I would suggest joining our VIP list, however, because these paintings do not sit long after release.
