America 250

An Artist's View of American Exceptionalism!

Jules mira

Blessed to be an american!

My great grandfather, Edward Stuart Crosland, (third generation removed) was born in Crosland Moore, West Yorkshire, England in 1740. He was kidnapped at age 10, while his father was away fighting a war, and brought to America. Our family is from the royal House of Stuart (Stewart), which was in the throws of a takeover at the time. His abduction was an apparent attempt to head off the possibility of a later attempt by an heir to reclaim the throne.

What was meant for evil became a great blessing for the Crosland family.... to become part of the birth of America. A little later on, great grandparents Donald and Roxanna Crosland set out from their North Carolina home to help settle the wild north Texas prairies in 1879. Remembering my American heritage, as an artist, is something that thrills my soul and adds much joy to life and living.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, I am thankful to God, beyond words, to have been born an American! As an artist, a great deal of my creativity flows from that American heritage. Paintings such as Palo Pinto Morning, Main Street Dallas Evening, Faith And Friends Wednesday, The Majestic Theater Crowd, Goose Creek Field Of Gold and many more, are all a tribute to our exceptional American heritage. For those who collect or view my work, if I'm able to bring you even a small part of the joy and strength of our American heritage I find in creating, then you have, indeed, made my day!
